Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion Project
Reclamation management and operations team
2018 – Current
DRS dredging reclamation teams have secured a key role in managing reclamation and sand placement for the $225 million Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion Project, which will deliver a new east–west runway (capable of servicing aircraft such as the A350 and 787 Dreamliner) and associated infrastructure at the existing airport at Marcoola, Queensland.
Working closely with MP Dredging, DRS will support temporary construction operations including the establishment of a dredge delivery sinker line, a sand pumping pipeline and day to day reclamation operations of the project.
Mozambique
Construction Superintendent, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation

DRS senior management contracted to supply Civil, Dredging and Reclamation client side superintendent support to the Mozambique Gas Development Project.

Bonelli Group
2016 – 2017
DRS management and technical teams have been commissioned to advise and supply consultancy and management services to the Bonelli Construction and Marine Plant Group. Services include dredging and reclamation market evaluation; marine and dredging plant evaluation; suitability and procurement; expansion and continued development of the group’s dredging department; tendering and contract support; vessel productivity modelling and on-site project management.

Dredging and Geomorphology Advisor, Angola LNG

Senior technical and management staff are currently seconded into Angola LNG to advise and manage the day-to-day and long-term capital and maintenance dredging contract. Activities include the preparation and implementation of the dredging related contracts; on-site client representation; contractual management; claims assessment; Health, Safety and Environmental monitoring and contract reporting.
Jamaica
Port Authority Jamaica

DRS senior dredging management provide advice and consultancy support in the evaluation of dredging plant suitability, plant procurement, and training and development of the Port Authority’s in-house dredging department. Support services include the development and understanding of the Authority’s long-term maintenance and capital dredging requirements in its home market; and identifying regional marketing opportunities, sourcing and assisting in the procurement of suitable dredging plant.

DRS senior project management staff were part of the team commissioned to undertake an expert third party review and propose alternative options that considered both short and long-term maintenance dredging and improvement methods. These options included a number of trial dredging techniques and explored the practicalities for creation of alternative channel alignments. Dredging experts undertook regular site visits, working in cooperation with local government and the dredging contractor. New dredging and bathymetric survey techniques were trialled and analysed, with the aim of increasing the volume removal of infill sediment at key shoals that can be removed annually using port supplied equipment.

DRS project management staff acted as dredging observer and client representative for Arrow Energy in relation to capital dredging for their LNG export terminal in Gladstone, Queensland.

DRS senior technical and project management staff were retained by Santos (GLNG) to provide advice on the dredging strategy, monitoring requirements and contracting of the dredging required to establish the new LNG facility at the Port of Gladstone. Activities included supplying key staff to act as dredging and contract observers and on-site client representatives to provide third party quality assurance, audit services, contractual review, claims assessment, environmental and safe working practices and reporting on the day-to-day dredging and reclamation operations.
